I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
How did Alfred Tennyson know this was true? From what I've read of him, he certainly knew what it was to have loved and lost, but he had no clue how it felt to have never loved at all.
I don't disagree with him. But, then again, how would I know otherwise?Labels: literary
