 Sunday, October 08, 2006 feels like home Questions from the magnificent Penny... 1. Most vengeful thing you ever did as a child I'm not certain of this. I used to play mind games with my brother all the time, and it drove him nuts. But I can't think of any one particular event. I did do a couple of mean things in middle and high school, but I'd rather not 'fess up to them quite yet. 2. Meanest friend you ever had as a child There was a little girl in Kindergarten that I wanted to be my friend. She was so pretty and seemed like fun to hang out with at recess. So, I asked her if she would be friends with me, and she said, "No, I have enough friends, thank you." I thought she was being polite at the time. Funny. 3. Nicest thing you ever did as a child I let people copy off my homework a lot, in hopes it would make them be friends with me. Does that count? 4. Nicest friend you ever had as a child My stuffed animals. Ha! No, but really, Christy was always really nice to me at school. And Brianne was always nice to me at church and in choir. (The choir trip bickering didn't begin until after middle school...) 5. The meanest thing and nicest thing you do for/to your self now that you are grown The meanest thing I do to myself is when I let (or make?) myself sit and dwell on painful memories. By painful memories, I don't mean broad events or long periods of time. I mean just single, stabbing statements. And sometimes I write things down privately, and I make myself go back and read them and rehash those emotions that have past. The worst feelings are those of helplessness and worthlessness. They sneak up on me a lot when I let them. The nicest thing I do for myself physically is a nice, long bath or a nail-buffing session. Sometimes I treat myself with some Jell-O or muffins. Mmm... muffins. Mentally, the nicest thing I do is just allowing myself to chill out, listen to some Björk and/or Radiohead, and just veg out. I don't let myself do that much.
