The Virtues of Paranoia
If you assume people like you, either:
--- A) They truly like you. You discover this, and it makes you happy.
--- B) They don't like you, after all. You discover this, and it makes you feel stupid for thinking they liked you in the first place.
If you assume people don't like you, either:
--- A) They truly like you. You discover this, and it makes you happy.
--- B) They don't like you, after all. You discover this, and it makes you feel smart, because you knew it anyway.
Disappointment comes as no surprise when you've been expecting it all along.
But, if all this is true, why would anyone not be paranoid? There has to be something I'm missing.Labels: self-assessment
